CMPD Arrests 5 Teenagers for Murder of 17 Year Old

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested five teenagers for the drive-by shooting death of 17 year-old Kydaryuni "K.C." Curry on Sunday evening. Their ages range from 16 to 19 years old. Police said the motive behind the killing involved one or more of the suspects feeling that Curry had disrespected them in the presence of a female companion.

The group of teens is accused of shooting Curry in his driveway from an SUV at about 6:30 Sunday evening. Jeremy Elijah Pate, Samuel Jerome Walker Jr., Sheldon Gregory, Bruck Birega Fekadu, and Dedric Lorenzo McKenzie were all arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Curry was a junior at First Assembly Christian School in Concord. His death marks the 35th homicide in Charlotte this year, and Mecklenburg County's fifth teenage murder in about 6 months.
