Last night, police found one person shot to death and another shot in the head on Haverstraw Court (Haverstraw Court is a cul-de-sac off Piney Grove Road, a short distance from the intersection of Idlewild Road and W.T. Harris Boulevard.)The incident began around 10:30 pm when police received a call about shots fired in east Charlotte near Piney Grove Drive. When they arrived at the scene, they found two victims lying in the roadway. They discovered one person dead, the other was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police received information the suspect may be close by and focused on a nearby home on Haverstraw Court. Police asked the people inside the home to come out and they refused. At that time the SWAT team was called to the scene. A family in a neighboring home was evacuated while officers used a bullhorn to try and negotiate with the people inside that home.
Around 3:15 am this morning, two people inside the home finally came out. The man and woman were taken to police headquarters to be questioned by homicide detectives. Right now police aren’t calling these two people suspects in this case. Part of Piney Grove Drive and Haverstraw Court were shut down throughout the night, they have since been reopened this morning.
