Police arrested and charged a 29-year-old man with murdering two people in Center City Charlotte early Friday morning.  Also arrested was 22-year old Brandon Marell Williams.

The victims were shot around 12:24 a.m. along the 100 block of South Cedar Street which is located near Johnson & Wales University.   When officers arrived at the scene, they found 20-year-old Kevin Cano and 20-year-old Jamie Aubrey-Marquis Gill dead inside a Chevy Impala.

Cano and Gill were inside the vehicle at the intersection when two men pulled up in another vehicle and opened fire. Two public transit buses were damaged by stray bullets as well as some cars parked along the street.

Police have charged Richard Jordan and Brandon Williams with murdering Cano and Gill.  The CMPD said the suspect and the victims knew each other, but police would not comment on a motive for the shooting.

If you know anything about these murders, call the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department at 704-432-TIPS.
