Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Youth Crime/Domestic Violence Unit have arrested Meredith Bambick Stilwell and charged her with Attempted First Degree Murder and Felony Child Abuse in connection with an incident that occurred on January 27, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center – Levine Children’s Hospital. The victim in this case is Mrs. Stilwell’s eleven month old daughter. The family resides in Catawba County.
Providence Division Officers were called to CMC by the medical staff after examining the victim and making the determination that her condition was the result of child abuse. The child remains hospitalized at CMC.

Mrs. Stilwell was interviewed at CMPD Headquarters and then transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where she is being held without bond.
