CMPD Investigating Murder on Cates Street

UPDATE:  (April 21, 2011) - Detectives with the Homicide Unit and the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) apprehended and arrested Felix Antonio Patton for the murder of Mr. Christopher Satterfield.

Mr. Patton has been charged with first degree murder. He has been transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office; where he will remain in their custody

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit are investigating a murder in a parking lot outside of 811 Cates Street in the Central Division. The call for service came in on Wednesday, April 06, 2011.  The victim has been identified as 35-year old Christopher Lee Satterfield

Central Division officers responded to an ADW with injury call placed from Cedar Oaks Condominiums. When officers arrived on scene, they found Mr. Satterfield lying in a small parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic at 2:25 a.m.

Based upon an initial statement by a witness, he looked outside his apartment window after he heard the gunshot and observed a male subject standing over the victim. The witness further stated that when he went outside to check on the victim, that the subject was gone.

Officers with the Central Division set up a perimeter and called in the assistance of the K-9 Unit, but was unable to locate the subject. Crime Scene Search responded to collect physical evidence and photograph the scene.
