Shortly before 6:00 am, a hit and run fatal crash occurred on Poindexter Drive at Lawndale Road. Edward Hedrick III, 29, was bicycling with two other friends down Poindexter Drive. Mr. Hedrick fell from his bicycle prior to Lawndale Road and when his friends tried to get him out of the road, a vehicle came down Poindexter Drive towards South Blvd.
Mr. Hedrick’s friends attempted to flag the car down to slow down, but the vehicle struck Mr. Hedrick while he was on the ground and drove away.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Medic.
The CMPD Major Crash Investigations Unit is requesting assistance from the public in locating the suspect vehicle- An older model, silver or light blue colored vehicle, possibly Toyota Tercel or Corolla, 4 door.
The vehicle was last seen driving down on Poindexter toward South Blvd. The damage to the suspect vehicle will be possibly minor front end and undercarriage damage.
