CMPD Homicide Unit Investigating North Charlotte Murder

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a homicide after 25 year-old Zachary Jamal Pittman was shot and killed last night in north Charlotte.

CMPD received a call of shots fired at the intersection of Yellow Rose Land and Terrier Way shortly before 9:00 Wednesday night.

Authorities believe that the victim of that shooting, identified as Pittman, fled the area after being shot. He ran a shot distance to the 10000 block of English Setter Drive, where he died.

Police responded to a second call in reference to a suspicious person on English Setter Drive, which turned out to be the victim. Pittman was pronounced dead on scene when medics arrived.

CMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the case. Investigators are working throughout the neighborhood to gain information.
