Man Shot at Hickory Gas Station

Hickory police officers are searching for the suspect in a shooting that occurred around 2:15 Wednesday morning. According to reports, a 27 year-old Taylorsville native was shot in the abdomen while pumping gas at the Kangaroo Express located at the 2800 block of North Center Street, or Highway 127.

The victim was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center by a family member and is expected to recover.

The suspect was described as a young white male around age 20. He was driving a Volvo that was either silver or beige in color. The vehicle could have been a model from the 1990's, and the gas cap cover and all four hubcaps were missing. Police have not released a motive, but believe the shooting was intentional rather than a random crime.

Authorities have asked anyone with information on this case to contact the Hickory Police Department directly by calling (828) 328-5551.
