Local Woman Charged for Creating False Insurance Form

On Saturday, officials with the N.C. Department of Insurance charged 18 year-old Briana Ciara Byers for creating a false insurance form to obtain a driver's license. The investigation comes as part of an initiative by the department to go after offenders of bail bond and insurance fraud.

According to authorities, Byers created the false report while volunteering at an insurance agency. On August 24, she used the form to apply for and receive a driver's license.

Byers was charged with obtaining property by false pretense. She posted her $1000 bond and was released.
