Crime Victim Benefit

HELP CHARLOTTE CRIME VICTIM CARL STEVENSON!!

Carl Stevenson (Right) was a hardworking man living in Charlotte, NC- but that all changed on April 12, 2006 when Carl was a victim of a drive-by shooting. Carl stopped at a Hardee's on Sunset Road in Charlotte around 8:00 p.m and after getting his order, Carl pulled out of the parking lot and crossed traffic to head to the interstate. He was going to turn left on I-77 heading south but he never made it. Before he crossed the bridge, a car with dark tinted windows pulled up alongside him and the barrel of a gun poked out of the window.

For the next few seconds, Carl was riddled with bullets from an AK-47 - a Russian military machine gun capable of sending a bullet ripping through a piece of steel. Bullets filled Carl's leg and chest and another took a chunk out of his skull leaving his eye hanging from its socket. Carl's car continued to roll through traffic. Through screams of agony, blinded by sweat and blood, Carl somehow managed to locate the shifter and slam his vehicle into park. His truck screeched to a stop atop the I-77 Bridge. The shooter drove off and was never found.

The life saving efforts of police, paramedics, and total strangers that followed in the next few seconds, minutes, and hours were nothing short of heroic. Local news coverage reported the shooting as a case of road rage, but that was never determined. Carl said he never even saw his assailants. Somehow Carl survived this vicious attack-but now he needs our help. Carl's medical bills have mounted to over $160,000 and with his costly recovery- the price is climbing.
