Wanted by CMPD: Tomonta Simmons

Tomonta Simmons is wanted by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) for outstanding warrants for interfering with an electronic monitoring device.  Simmons was released from jail on December 18, 2010 and placed on probation with the NC Department of Community Corrections and he was being monitored by CMPD.

On November 9, 2011 Simmons cut off his court ordered monitor and is currently on the run. Simmons was last seen in the area of I-277 and I-77.

Tomonta Simmons has previously been arrested for felony drug and weapon charges in Mecklenburg County.

Anyone with information on Simmons whereabouts should immediately contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) at (704) 336-VCAT or call 911.

CMPD and the NC Department of Community Corrections are involved in a pilot program to monitor priority offenders on probation. Simmons is the second offender to cut off a CMPD electronic monitor as part of this pilot program which is in its second year.
