CMS officials are reporting that they discovered a 12-year old seventh grade student brought a loaded gun to CMS' Community House Middle School, located in Ballantyne area of Charlotte. CMS Officials said the loaded gun was discovered about 1:30pm on Tuesday. It was found after classmates alerted a teacher about seeing a student with the weapon. That student was questioned who said it was another student was who had the loaded gun. Administrators questioned the second student and later found the gun.
Once the gun was found, authorities were notified immediately and Principal Jamie Brooks sent out a Connect Ed message to all parents. The 12-year-old was taken off campus in a patrol car.
