Pastor of Hickory Church Arrested for Indecent Liberties

William Bradley Moss, the pastor of a Hickory church, was arrested yesterday on charges of indecent liberties with a child. Moss was arrested at his Newton home shortly after 5:00 Monday evening . He is the pastor of Victory Empowerment Center International of Hickory.

Authorities started the investigation in July after the mother of the victim notified police of a possible sex offense. Detectives determined that the sexual assault took place in Newton, though Moss met the victim at the church he pastors.

Moss is currently jailed in Catawba County under a bond of $100,000 and faces his first court appearance Wednesday.

Bessemer City Man Arrested for Statutory Rape

Gaston County police arrested 22 year-old Casey Lee Cearley this week for allegations that he had sex with an underage girl in May.

Cearley, a native of Bessemer City, is charged with statutory rape involving someone under 16 years old. The girl was 14 at the time of the incident in question.

Cearley was jailed in Gaston County under a $30,000 bond.

Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Underage Family Member

Forty-three year-old Samuel Terry Roberts was arrested Wednesday by Statesville police for sexual assault charges. Roberts is accused of assaulting a family member that is underage. Police arrested him at his Church Lake Road home.

Roberts is charged with statutory sex offense and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. He is currently  jailed in Iredell County under a $75,000 bond.

Catawba County Man Found Guilty of Sex Crimes

Hickory native James Allen Minyard, 47, was found guilty of a host of sexual charges. He was convicted of 5 counts of indecent liberties with a child and felony attempted first degree sex offense with a child under age 13. In addition to those charges, Minyard was designated a habitual felon.

He was arrested by Burke County sheriffs in 2009 after reports that a child in his care was being assaulted sexually by Minyard. The victim is Minyard's ex-girlfriend's son, according to the Hickory Daily Record. Police say the abuse took place several times from March to August of 2009.

Minyard received a sentence of 225-279 months in prison and has denied his guilt.

Former Basketball Coach From Hickory High Charged With Taking Indecent Liberties With Former Students

Shawnacie Johnson, the former head coach of the Hickory High School men's basketball team, is now facing five charges of indecent liberties with 2 former students.

Johnson, 38, was indicted last month when a second alleged victim, also a former student, went to authorities. Johnson allegedly had sex with a then 14 year old student multiple times from 2007 on, according to court documents.

35-Year Old Charged with Statutory Rape after 14-Year Old Gives Birth

Juan Martinez Hernandez has been charged with statutory rape after a 14-year-old girl gave birth to his child on Sunday.  Police say the girl gave birth to the baby in the bathroom of an apartment near East Arrowood Road.

Her family called 911 and the responding paramedics asked police for assistance. The girl told the police officers who the baby’s father was- a man who lived in the neighborhood and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police found and interviewed Juan Martinez-Hernandez.

Hernandez “admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim on several occasions,” according to the police report. Hernandez was charged with four counts of statutory rape and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. He is in jail at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office under a $250,000 bond.

Immigration reports show that Martinez-Hernandez was deported from the US in 2010.

Man Arrested for Flashing Children on Norris Ave

On July 18th, police arrested 50-year old Miguel Rosillo and charged him with three counts of indecent exposure. Police say Rosillo flashed his private parts to a group of children who were selling lemonade at a stand on Norris Avenue

A few days before his arrest, Rosillo visited the children's lemonade stand at least three times, showing them his private parts.  He was reported to police by the children's Mother, who urged the children to record the suspect's license plate number, which they did.

Miguel Rosillo payed his $2,100 secured bond and was back on the streets the following day.  If you have any information that could help police, please call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Priest Arrested For Taking Indecent Liberties with a Child

Members of the U.S. Marshal's New York/New Jersey Task Force took Father Robert Yurgel, 43, into custody in Passaic, NJ. Yurgel was arrested on outstanding warrants from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Robert Yurgel was wanted on five counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of statutory sex offense in connection with a 1999 case. Police say the victim recently reported the incidents to CMPD detectives. The victim was a juvenile at the time the offenses occurred.

Father Yurgel was a priest at St. Matthews Catholic Church when the incidents occurred. He served at St. Matthews from 1997-1999. He was then assigned to the Our Lady of Consolation Church for a short time before transferring to a parish in New Jersey. Yurgel will be brought back to Charlotte to face these charges.
